Excellent research and consistent examination of light, energy and natural phenomena. Employing very exciting methods that use the mechanisms of photography to capture and measure time. James have been very precise in how he wants to involve location and duration in constructing ideas of beauty and simple form. The exhibition was successful in seeking out the specific material weight and presence what he wanted the work to carry but also challenged his material expectations and ideas of beauty. The fragile nature of the final piece revealed a more open approach to form and perfection. It was brave not to show the complexity of the process this piece had gone through but allow the sculpture to embody this experience. Continue to be ambitious and industrious with how to interact with the environment and expand on the apparatus and employ which has references to the laboratory.
